When someone knocks on the door, you should answer it

February 20, 2008

I’m pretty excited. I’ve been crazy busy with project after project. For the last two or three weeks I’ve been thinking, ‘Christ, where does all my time go’, but it’s been going into good and legitimate things. Score one for a good guy.

I finished (actually finished) three new sets of interview questions. Dave Eggers take #2, Steve Martin, and Jenna Fischer.

Doing them again, after such a long absence felt really great tonight. Drinking a couple of beers, and thinking maybe Steve Martin will point his browser on over to IfPthenDirt was pretty cool.

Still many things left, but it feels like good starts have been made. Sleep well.

Each time it happens

What a lovely mood, what a lovely day, what a lovely space. I believe I plugged these guys before, but a la ‘Daytrotter’, La Blogotheque does impromptu shows with indie acts. Sometimes in an apartment, in front of a cafe, on the subway, wherever really. And they’re all great.

Here’s the Divine Comedy playing ‘Tonight We Fly”

I really should be working right now, and I will, I promise, but I had to post, and say what a lovely day I’m having. Also, I got to hang out with Dave Eggers at a bar after his reading last night - he said he’d love to do a hand written interview, so that’s pretty good.

Getting lighter, later

So perhaps I am the king of narcissists, but I had to share this with you. Usually, this blog is linked to from friends of Dirt. Occasionally, we catch a link from someone else. This time, it was in Spanish, and god love Altavista’s Babelfish for this translation of the post. In case you read Spanish, the original is here.

Plañir is going away to finish, Eisner will provide with respect to betas and htmls; let us follow now with ours.
I imagine that with the amount of blogs that we walked, lately, gravitating around the same viñetero planet, the factor surprise has become a globe without dialogue. For that reason, although I suppose that there will be several dozens of posts dedicated to her, to us Dirt’s Funnies has surprised to us excessively. A page that appears with a “I love the written Word. What’s to nicer than receiving to letter… “, it does not let have his mystery. An experiment in which everything (everything) is written by hand.
Lguna reference we knew about similar projects, but we did not become aware of some so inclusive and complex, and that so touched close by that aunto planetary which we commented before (cómic), like this one in which now we landed. For that reason, we want to invite to them to you to the interstellar expedition formed by cómics-collage Martian, ready of one-not-know-well-what and, mainly, interviews written by hand and responded of equal way by some of our favorite comiqueros authors (osadía exploratory like pioneering merit). What they hear. They do not lose the correspondence of roundtrip with Robert Crumb, Joe Matt, Jeffrey Brown, Adrian Tomine or Peter Bagge, among others (to only mention to the authors of cómics, that in the list are also some musician and writer).
Ah, also is blog the sea of interesting but, treason, this one are not written by hand.

(near)completion and feelin’ all right

Well, I’m pretty excited to announce the opening of ‘Shit to Buy‘ over at ifpthendirt. Our brand new store features an item I’m super excited about, “Dirt’s Funnies #1″. This comic book features 87 of your favorite Dirtbag comics printed so small you can barely read them! Thankfully, they come with hand screen printed front and back covers. Also, it’s limited edition! There are (going to be) 50 numbered copies, and 13 (sitting on my table) lettered copies up for< sale for the bargain basement price of $10+$2 shipping in the U.S.

If you do decide to order a book, let me know which number/letter you’d like, and I’ll let you know the availability. Also, don’t feel obliged to order - truth is, all the comics are online, and you could make a book yourself with a couple hours, some scissors, and a printer.
